The progression of sewing

The children have been practicing their sewing skills on various types of materials.  Here we have burlap with a line in permanent marker to follow. 

We then went on to sew buttons on the burlap.

We showed the child where to place the button (which is a bit larger so they can hold on easily).

She was then able to sew it on with a little help!

This is a great practical life skill to have and also strengthens fine motor skills.
